Hey Everyone,

A bunch of us are sailing in similar conditions and equipment that some of you are. Tiny sails, mostly Goya, Wizards and Phantasms of all kinds.

Very cool to see the custom work that some of you are doing, and to see guys sailing like we do.

Have fun on the water

Hello Chris - I subscribed to Foily Foily. Enjoyed your recent NE wind video. Please keep content creation going, and posting.

I'm riding the same kind of kit up here in Connecticut, eastern Long Island Sound (103 mast, PTM 926 front wing, Wizard V4 130 and V3 115). Got off my F4 race gear a few years ago. Been chasing windsurfing since 1976; from an old white log, to homemade Ken Winner boards, to D2's to Equipe's to Formula to Race Foil now Fun Foil. At 70 not sure I want to risk an injury learning how to Wing Foil.

You seem plugged in, what's going on at AWSI? Is Slingshot still in the Wind Foil business? Who is making good foil sails? My quiver is built around NP, Free Flight's (2021's 5.7, 4.8, 4.0) and Goya (3.7 and 3.2) With Adventure Sports out of the NP game, I'm wondering about my next set, just had my 5.7 at the local sailmaker for repair. Thank you

All the best,
Blunt White

Blunt,

Thanks for subscribing!

We are all using slingshot wizards, 90, 114, 130. The red ones. They are cheap now.

All phantasm masts and foils. Mostly 103 masts, a couple guys have the 125s. G900 or G1000 for light days, PTM730 for 20+

as for sails, 5.9 for 13-15, 5.3ish for 15-18, 4.7 for 17-20, 4.2 for 20-25, 3.7 for 24-28ish, and 3.3 for when it gets windy. I weigh 210, lighter guys mostly start on 5.5 or so. Mostly Goya Banzai, Fringe, and the awesome Cypher.

Had a couple epic sessions this week at First Landing at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay with an Aircraft Carrier anchored in the background and dolphins playing on the swells with us.

More content otw.

Since you guys have experience with goya Cypher, anyone tried Severne foil freek this year model, it has higher aspect than Cypher, looks very interesting to me, specially 4.4 m2

What are the sails you used prior, I'm mainly interested Cypher vs. foil freek, I'm expecting more low end and easier transition dues to higher aspect... if it done well??

I had a cypher 5,6. I was not happy with it. After that a Foilfreek 5,6. I sold it cause it was too big for me. Now FF 4,8 and 4. Perfect balanced sails.
4,8 in 10 knots up to 20
4 in 15 knots up to 30
Perfect low end and the handling is a dream

Cypher 3.1 and even 2.8 are the best for mid to high windfoil for me. 5.1 cypher a bit physical to handle on the other hand , thinking FoilFreek 4.4 might actually do better in 7- 12 kn winds. In Cabarete I use Cypher 4.4 in light winds
and I works very well, but Miami needs something with more low end.
