Reg from Windsurfing Perth has put up a $1000 gift voucher for the shop for the last official finisher of the 25th Lancelin Ocean Classic Marathon!
This should make for a very interesting finish!
He figures he's finished last enough times before so has a red hot chance of taking his own prize

Matteeee, I am a dead cert now then
One leg, an old stuffed Loft sail and a board that will dribble me over the line.
The first boat that pulls along side telling me to get in I will flog em one

If I win the prize I'll donate it to the Lancelin Chamber of Commerce, to sort out their online registration form. *grumble grumble still doesn't email you anything* *sigh*

An excellent idea.
Is there a time limit?

The end of the race will be quite a spectacle then. A whole lot of people trying to be last but within the time limit. Should be a lot of fun. That will make an interesting story line for the documentary...

Be careful with the wording you lot. Its last "official" finisher. The organisers start hoicking people out as they see fit, considering the distance you have go and the cut off time
Remember last year and year before that, the cries of despair from people who were told to "get in the boat, its all over for you sunshine" from race monitoring officials. And the contestant couldn't finish the race.
Think last year, Evets (from MM in the GPTC) got stung and had to hang up his board short of the finish
But its a novel idea from Reg

I wonder what Rosie Ruiz (cheater at the Boston marathon) would think of as a trick to win this one...

Fun idea though.

Why the red thumbs people?

This problem was identified a long time ago and reflects poorly on the event.
What is wrong with nebbian stating the facts? ..... and even better in a sort of light hearted manner

You have to avoid eye contact (any contact) with them - then its harder to call you out. But seriously its sensible to just do what they ask. From experience however I find the car rides on the beach or the entry into Lancelin Bay on a boat more scary than the sailing ! But now they do give you free beer.

My mate beat all the people who didnt finish last year (thats the polite way to say it) I dont know how he avoided being called in but he was persistent.
