If so than I had an 8'6" Jump City channel bottom thruster with a wild flame paint job. Spewed on the Flounderer on the 40 knot trip over in the dark.

Gangster - didn't Brett Yardley have Sailboards Brighton? I reckon he sewed sails under the Flying Objects logo and taught Ben Severne how to sew them, then sold him the name. Was it Smithy or Browny who worked there? Seemed to live in his Kingswood in the Marino carpark and would always be hot-knifing hash on the rope-cutter in the shop?
What was the name of the guy who owned ABC at Henley Beach? I always remember Eric (B Rakim) Brokken parking his crème van in the dirt lot across the road next to Pete (?) who worked there's matching blue van...Nissans I reckon. Desi Arnez would be lurking in his yellow/orange Mitsubishi van which was EVERYWHERE in the late 80's....and Johnny (spicoli) Giancola in a poo-brown Datsun 180b wagon. I remember how weird it was seeing each other in ties etc after Johnny decided to check out - I think Pete (?) may have done the same?

I always remember when Shane OÇal would forget what you ordered and make something completely different he'd say "but I did it FOR YOU". Still - Shane made me the only board I've ever had which did exactly what it was told...an extenstion of my feet. c94/95 semi-nonose 8'8" swallowtail thruster (would be called a single/thruster now) with a kick tail rocker a-la McTavish. Chucking-Chickens spray job. Rolled my car on it along with an almost as magical 7'10 full thruster Gravelle groveller near Penong in '98. If only I had CAD files for those puppies....

Waveboy - Tom Hoye still shapes a few Precision Equipment surfboards in Margs. I saw him at the pub on sat night.

ABC was my Hang out spot as a groom. I used to bug Pete and Desi for rides home after I had rode on my pushie with my Bombora Antartica on a trailer to the beach and was too knackered to ride home.

Dave Marsh was the shop owner. Any one know if he still wind surfs?

That's 30 years of froth there good to see some crew decided to stay around and continue the stoke. It's good to have the memories and even better to have tomorrow to look forward too.

Those Gravelle fish/pigs were well ahead of their time. I saw a couple that Dion Griffiths has lately and they look pretty relevant to todays designs.
I'd love to get Sticko to paint some boards for me. He did some really cool stuff. His tshirts were awesome!

Here is an all time Sticko / Jump City classic. It was originally made for Dave March at ABC. Yours truly picked it up in the late 80s I think.

It never sailed very well, but it does a good job on the poolroom wall.

Yeh, still alive and well.
Gday to Seabreeze crew. Thanks to all the South Aussies for getting a board off me. I made about 1600 sailboards, 2 per week, 100 per year, for 16 years, 1981-1997. Sailed with and made some good boards for some talented young sailors, Geoff Hillwood, Jason Coonan, Maris Naish, Scott McLusky, Andrew Lang, Ben Severne. OMG! The good ‘ol days! Made boards for Kim Symonds dad Murray and Ty Andrews dad Ian, dates me a bit. But had a good blast at Sellicks last night with Russ and a few crew, on my Starboard Acid 80, second board I’ve ever bought since the Windsurfer One Design in 1977. Thanks for your support in between.
Doing all the Hobie stuff now at Binks Marine, sailing, fishing, kayak and sup.
Good luck to all and see you down the beach, Regards Shane O’Callaghan.

Hope you are looking after that board Langy, WF1317, I'm coming over to get it back! You still 85kgs? SOC

That's not D.T is it?
I was at Sticko's house one day when he was working on that one. 1989 is my guess.

G'day S.

Yes it is DT. How have you been? I get the odd update on you from Whiteway. We are living in Victor a few streets away from him. Been down here for about 4 years. It's a cool place to live with kids who love the beach. Better than the Melbourne rat race we left behind !!

Langy - you don't know what happened to Sagan's (The Iron Sheik / Ayatollah of Speed) 8'0 Gravelle (with green beetle? on the deck). That one was the ****. Mine was never as good.
The CD you sent of spot E last year didn't work. Computer said no.
I've got that classic footage from the early 90's - with the volcano/dinosaur board in action + the black rail/purpleish deck SOC (8'5?) you used in that era. Might try for a few days up your way in the next few weeks so will bring it. Classic footage of carpark mopers as well ...The Tricksta! Piles of dudes in Rushton's blue van struggling up the big dipper hill at the back of Dribbleton...

SOC - every time I go sailing, I regret not at least taking a rocker template and some dimensions off the remnants of the chucking chicken 8'8 when I moved west......lost forever.

Classic!
Yep - I'm all good. Only sporadic sailing these days. Winter is crap in SW WA - the fronts pass too fast and too many factors need to align for most spots. Usually a trip to the NW in spring and a short season at Margs over summer. Plenty of surfing though.
Good to see you still into it at the old haunts.

first post (couldn't resist this topic)

Shane mowed my first board in '97. Which was 8'7" and about 90L ( anyone's guess really) This was sailed to death and eventually snapped in 1/2 landing a jump about 5 yrs ago. (should have asked Shane for my money back... ha ha)

Leading edge fins ( from WA) and tuttle fin box. + Gaastra sails

Still own 3 wind energy boards.
had 4 Sails this week including all three W.E. boards ( 8'9" 85L ; 8'10" 100L and 9'2" 120L).

Biggest board Sunday 12-17 knots. Smallest on Tues in 25-30 kts

they'll certainly outlast me, ( I sail around the waves these days).
