More newbie questions. Recently, I have been buying sails beyond my capability (Overdrive & Code Red) which I do enjoy. Now I also have 2 booms which at their (higher & lower) limits fit some of these sails.

Naturally I *MUCH* prefer using the smaller wave boom as it's carbon and lighter and just easier to handle.

ALSO, the width of it is much smaller and although I use the same harness lines (long 28"), the larger boom becomes way out of my control. What I mean is, with the large boom, and the long harness line, I feel like the rig is way too far from me (I am short 163 cm @ 69kg).

I guess, my question is, if the length of the boom can suit, am I able to use my smaller wave boom for a slalom sail (older Overdrives & Code Reds)?

edit: I'm not too fussed with the stiffness of either, as even with the smaller boom at high extension - it still feels stiff enough.

Hey Shaw, I reckon the constraining factor may be the outline. The stiffness of the carbon wave vs the alu slalom may be close. For smaller sails I reckon not a problems but a 7m race sail on a wave boom probably won't have the shape it needs. At the end of the day though, go with what you feel comfortable and confident with 'cause that will allow you to push the limits.
