Does anyone know of any webpages that cover carrying your gear? As in up and down the beach. I have a dodgy back and a few other wear and tear issues and always have to separate my rig and board when coming back up the beach. I'm hoping for some technique tips that might enable me to get it up all at once with ease.
I had children and have them carry it up and down to the beach. Yes I know politically incorrect but hey saves the back.
You are probably better off sticking with what you are doing. When carrying the lot on your head you have to make adjustments for gusts or slight wind shifts and if you don't make them quickly you end up putting a fair amount of twisting strain in your back to get it all lined up again to keep going.
The reason I'm asking is I'm probably going to have to move to a place where windsurfers access the water via this specially constructed ramp. There's no beach to lay your gear on, you have to come up the ramp gear in hand and walk across some dirt to the grass. There's no where to separate your gear before taking it up.
Now me beeing a novice, I would walk down the board drop it at the edge of the water a little up the ramp, get the sail and stick it all together in the water.
Yep it's Christchurch, I'm going to freeze. Full steamers year round. This is the view to windward in Summer.
