Getting pretty hairy in Yeppoon now. Probably 3 hours before full force hits us. Just wondering if I should derig the 3.0 and go with the 1.5 (fully downhauled of course)
Thinking of our Qld mates today, stay safe everyone
holy ** 84knots recorded at yeppoon thats some hairy conditions, did anyone end up getting out?
Sausage, I hope you and everybody in town are alright.
Thanks Jas, we're all okay and house was fine (surprisingly) apart from looking like someone had painted it with leaves but yard looked like a cyclone had gone through it ;-) Still no power and ice is in very short supplies. Has been stinking hot too and everyone suffering.
Driving around there's heaps of houses without roofs, trees down everywhere and road signs all bent up or ripped out of the ground. Beaches are a mess and I don't like my chances of sailing if we get some wind as there's too much debris in ocean.
Thanks for all your messages, texts and calls too guys - greatly appreciated.
A photo from our work camp on Curtis island , Gladstone . I woke up at 3 am and checked bom to see it go from cat 4 when I went to bed turn into a cat 5 . I panicked immediately!!!!
Thank god it just missed us , we only got between 40 and 45 knot gusts . Also messaged Sausage early to see how he was holding up at Yeppoon
Hang in there the power eventually comes back on! Thoughts with all of you down there..
Michael, we thankfully had our power restored Tuesday evening after possibly the hottest most humid conditions experienced in a long while. We're the lucky ones though as Many areas still out and not due connection for a while longer.
