My 2009 one piece iSonics have been in much need of new footpads for some time but trying to find replacement pads was like hen's teeth. Took the matter into my own hands and found some 5mm diamond grooved EVA from a jetski supplier on Gold Coast. The product is called Hydroturf and comes in a heap of colours. Traced the old pattern onto some detail paper then transferred to EVA, cut out with scissors, drilled footstrap holes with dremel and glued down with Selleys Qwik Grip contact cement.
Tested the first time yesterday and was amazed at just how much better they were than the original.
Anyhow I'm pretty happy with my handy work so here are a few pics .
nice work snags!
what about your other fine work you displayed at Burrum - Towel Shorts - they are the best!!! wish you could have stayed at Burrum Longer!!
Good work. Why didn't I think of using the dremel. I used a wad punch instead for the holes.
I found another brand of glue that doesn't stand out as much as kwik grip if you get it outside the pads, like I do. I just can't remember the name, and probably no one else gets it everywhere anyway.
Your pads look clean, so it looks like you never had the problem.
Great job Pork Snag, looks the goods
The only thing different I'd do is, I'd make one big pad, you know under front back and both side straps, that way if you hit another sardine it'll hold your Isonic together
Ha Bob, think it'd take more than one big footpad to hold those newer models together. Can't winge about the 09 models though as they've been through everything one could think of.
with a name like suasage thought you would need two hands!
Where did you get the shorts or were they home made?
nice job! I did the same to my iSonic 122 a while ago. Used some 50*80 sheets which i picked up from surfsail ..
