Looks like I'm going to have to man up for the Defi Wind this year! 45 knots coming my way!!! Either that or I have jinx the forecast!! 5.6!!
Just follow A2, Bjorn, Cucchi, Toselli and you should be fine...
enjoy and please write us a little report
Good luck Isaac.
We know you're going to do do a great job representing (Western)Australia.
Maybe show a thing or two to those Euros as well.
There is a lot of wind!
Thanks guys will do my best! Hopefully wind picks up today for only practice sail here before race starts on 14-17
Perfect training / warm-up day last Saturday with 25/30 kt of tramontane.
From what I've seen Isaac was doing quite well, so the only sail (so far) with an AUS number should do you guys proud. That is, if we don't die from the forecasted wind...
Can anyone find the Defi Wind photo of the windsurfer standing in the water with 1000 windsurfers blasting towards him?
The one event I always love seeing! Was chatting to a friend about it on the weekend, thinking it would be cool to take part next year. Just need to rent gear and get entered I suppose! Just need to know what port and starboard is in French!
^^ So the event doesn't clash with the PWA this year, means all the big guns are there?
Cool!
Yes indeed, even PWA free stylers and wave riders !
Great event where everyone participates and Albeau wins in the end....
The Defi Kite has just finished.
228 kitesurfers and the top 3 were on hydrofoils.
Im just picturing a poler coming in the opposite direction screaming "PORT PORT STARBOARD AAAGHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Wouldn't happen on this tack.
Defi Wind is an example of windsurfers doing it better.
This the 2010 Defi Wind - not the windiest, but a nice video edit. Captures the mood.
Live here, but only in French im afraid:

oh crap... it's all about A2 again ....
Your unique powers of editing/drawing, combined with your childish, twisted sense of humor never fail to amaze and amuse me Barn.
Do you have a fan club?
Few images from today and the wind turbines within an hour from gruissan :) good sign when your driving to a windsurf event
Ok so the Virgin defi wind aussie has been split and stretched! After misjudging the start by about 1 minute I was racing in 35-50 knot winds in quite choppy off shore breeze and managed to crash and didnt start the race until about 5 minutes late.
Armed with my smallest sail 5.6 reflex 6 which actually rigs with awesome shape, and a Patrik 92 and carpenter 32 I was out of control from the start well before.when I crashed
If you read this if Bjorn got whipped on his 5.6 then I.say no more. Many top guys bailed and the wave sails dominated the top 100

So.after.5 swims and a.heavy catapult I finally finished my first lap in about 1 hour. Trust me at one stage I was worried I would not even make it back to land.
Ok so I pulled up at.the rock wall where I had the choice of bearing off downwind and around the boat to start my second lap or quit. I decided on the first Option . So after a 5 minute soul search I think I found some balls finally and also the classic "Poo Stance" ??
I managed to Actually lock the Board down and hold my sail on through the gusts , and kept concentrating on The poo stance keep the bum low And out ! It Worked I flew through my second lap and finished just pipping the tandem which is a small but minor constellation.
377 out of 1078 finished the race who took to.the water. I managed 256 to get the Defi tromantana introduction out of the way and let's get down to business Yeww
epic !!
Congrats for going round twice !!
I was reading the french reports and hoping you were safe !!
