This is for windsurfers as well! Townsville is great, it has a dry heat as opposed to the wet of Cairns. Also the beach, the strand, you can sail from.

There is also talk about a Far North Queensland title been held at Bowen. Nothing official yet. The locals say, Blowing'in Bowen

Sean O Brien has trained out of Kings Beach Bowen. It is at the top of the whitsundays.

The race from Maggie Island to the mainland should be a hoot! Looking forward to it. Kudos to In the Loop Townsville for making sailors welcome.

Strand can be very inconsistant, the breeze is always a few knots more down at Pallarenda and towards the island it can get very flat at the right tide. The windsurfers go from beach access 10 and the kiters go from the park further up as there are a few sand banks there which make it hard for sailboards. But beware the forecast will be 20-25 for townsville and it will be thatoutpast the island but nothing inshore where as Gi and Bowen can be blowing likehell. I will offten travel from Townsville toBowen for wind.

I think planning for 12-17 knots with holes would be the go. But what a fun race potentially! NBR are you one of the (very few) other Townsville sailors?

Didn't when I went Dogged on a 7.5 cos I was sick of using the 8.5

Yeah the locals will tell you Townsville is a dry heat compared to Cairns where there is rainforests. Also I took the kids to the Museum (its right near the strip clubs) and it also says it there with graphs etc.

not this weekend but the next. Time to start thinking about escaping the cold into warm paradise and bookflights. Who is faster Kites or Windsurfers?
