How do they control the drone and get such steady pics in this wind.

"Gyros" maybe ? they use them on RC planes and helicopters to counter act wind gusts.

The cameras are gyroscopically stabilised. I saw the camera on a Channel 7 News helicopter recently and it was the same principle...but cost a whopping $300000. These drones are cheap and do a pretty good job. They can also use gyros to stabilise them in the hover...much better than helicopters.

Thinking the same thing. Here in cold, windless Sydney. Looking forward to summer though. Love to be able to sail like those guys, skimming across the water.

This is filmed with a DJI Phantom 2 in 30 knots by Ricardo Campello

I was pretty suprised how smooth it is in the chop. He was flying it around the day before in +35 knots and it seemed to be doing ok.

It really does! Just amazing to see the angles people are coming in at the first gybe ... how we don't all kill each other each time ... haha

Also what looked really sweet from this angle and with such clear water is seeing all the individual lines they take to get clean air and water. You just can't appreciate that from the beach or water.

Seems it follows you around.

Yeah that Air dog sounds awesome. It would be great if you could tell it to follow you from a certain distance and height.

Would be interesting to see if it had enough smarts to avoid crashing into another air dog. Imagine if there are 2 or 3 guys out windsurfing with there air dogs following them around.
