Has anyone been there? Looks like a pretty sweet spot for windsurfing. My wife and I are going to Europe in June for a month and I have suggested to her that there is really good shopping there . Their season kicks off in June also! Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
I have never been there myself, but statistically it might even be better in July

Slightly off the coast of Morocco, the Canary Islands, even better for windsurfing I think.
Gran canaria
Fuerteventura
Lanzarote
Tenerife
Just to mention some.......
Whishing you a nice holiday.
Been there to sail, but had just learnt so was on learner board at the end of feb, if I remember right.
I would imagine it gets damn windy in summer, its a nice bay, a bit like sailing around lancelin I would guess without the reefs and your on starboard tack.
There is a decent wave spot not to far from there 1 hour away I think, and I think there is some wave sailing to be had but nothing huge. I rented from the mistral centre, gear was fine, up to date mistral and north, not sure what they would have now.
On the shopping front, I really like the town, as it a bit out of the way for the European tourists, so its pretty interesting with a nice souk, so good shopping but not necessarily what you wife might have in mind
I have been to lanzorote which gets the same wind, which is a different experience, as there will be many more european tourists (along with the irish pubs etc), with more choices to rent gear, and locations to sail plus its easy to rent a car there. (you might not be able to take rental gear away from the centres though)
I took the bus to Essaouira from marakesh, and did it cheap, its a fun experience, I don't think you find a irish pub in Essaouira.
Does anyone know the what its like in Alacati in Turkey around May as im off there on my honeymoon and possibly my last chance to windsurf!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks very much for the feedback guys. I broached the topic with the boss last night and she seems keen . I'm sure we wont be there for the full month, but it certainly looks like a pretty place to visit for a few days. If we get some wind and I have a sail it will be a bonus
I've been to Essaouira about twenty odd years back. Was a big wind surfing contingent further south near Agadir back then.
The surf season is Jan/Feb in Morocca and the wind howls off the desert. Would be awesome cross shore waves heaps of places.
But you will need alot more than a month to take full advantage of it.
