wind has been on up here for weeks,it hardly ever blows in January up here, some will say it,s because i done me shoulder in,and the wind gods are tormenting me.A mate and i sail at alva beach one night,no moon, just g6 with a camera flash to show were the shore was,the hardest part was trying to see me mate coming in the other direction.

Gday Grich62, no moon would be difficult. Lotsa sandbanks to encounter around here. But we have a solution. Kero lamps on those bamboo poles. Already thinkin ahead....

Google maps had a picture of some windsurfing from Golden Beach.
Looks like a great flat water spot.
I've done some night windsurfing but where there has been road lighting onshore.
Did a sail boat race overnight, I got the steering stick sailing upwind with the moon out - awesome feeling - the "Midnight Sun"!
Was in Queensland in November and no daylight saving?!
Get those kerosene lamps olskool

Farmers! My grandfather was a farmer and we lived in cities and now my brothers boy's are back farming ??
I always got told Queensland surfers can get a surf before work.
But then the ladies complained about curtain fade ??
Was at surfers paradise during November and light so early that time clock didn't really alter to NZ.

515, a few weeks ago i scored 2 ESE sails seshs at 0500-0745 then off to work for 0900. First light about 0445-0500 here in January. Helps that i live 1km from where i sail.. My 4x4 is NEVER without sail gear. Wooohhooo!!!

Good keen man
When there is 4 hours daylight before work and you live so close, crazy not to.

Tardy, its not the dark to be scared of mate. Its those big splashes n scattering baitfish noises that let you know youre not alone. Saw a couple of small bull sharks on the surface whilst on one of my dawn patrols. Meh.... im too big n chunky for em to bother me.

Its not the baby sharks you have to worry about .....Its mumma shark , shes watching
Remember , you dont have to swim faster than the shark , you just have to out-swim your mates

Imax1, i can still crank out a sub 32second 50m freestyle. With mumma following im sure i could push a bit harder for a lil longer.
