Greece windsurf where to

Maybe heading to Greece in July for a wedding, thought a few days sailing at a resort/beach hire would be good. Anyone had experience of Naxos or Paros islands or is it better to go south ie Crete,Karpathos or Rhodes.Somewhere "wife friendly" she is learning windsurfing & a few waves would be nice if there is any. Any help appreciated.

Club Vass - definitely wife friendly from a "learn to windsurf" perspective. Excellent kit, green grass everywhere, and the staff do all the work for you.

I went for a sail at Kalifati Beach on Mykonos a couple of years ago. A nice beach, a nice bar but a bit of a drive from the main town though. There was a good hire place with plenty of gear to choose from.
Gusty winds were a bit above my skill level for enjoyment at the time. We drove past another beach where there were 6 or 8 out onshore wave sailing but we couldn't find the road in to check it out.

And as above good food, good beer and try a shot or two of Mastika to settle the food.

Sailed Rhodes & Kos and some other Island had a ball on all of them especially Rhodes

Club Vass is awesome: abundance of equipment, top instructors, great vibe with plenty of classes & activities all included. Perfect for a partner that's learning. Wind is generally afternoon only and can be flukey (July/August probably the best months for wind). Flat water / wind chop conditions only. Not the most awesome windsurfing conditions, but the best overall place to go in Greece IMHO. However, it's on Lefkada on the other side of Greece.

Islands round your destination are dependent on the Meltemi wind. July is a good bet, but even then it's a dice roll. For example I've had 10 completely windless days in Rhodes, and 14 full on mental days in Kos (north, avoid south). If I'd gone a week later to either of those places it would have been the opposite. Most windsurf centres on these islands are small indpendent-ish German run friendly but lacking-in-atmosphere operations. The wind always seems to be cross-off and often a little gusty, the water flat/choppy. Most cliental will be German and lessons are an expensive optional extra, usually done one-on-one. No where near as much fun as the group lessons at Club Vass.

I wouldn't recommend Palekastro in Crete, although the wind is good, the drive from airport takes forever along a terrifying coastal road. Tip: do it at night so you don't see all the shrines. The village itself is quiet and remote but pleasant. Not much to do if you aren't windsurfing.

Rhodes south (Parasonisi) I haven't been to it, but it is probably your only chance of waves. Conditions look great, I've been put off by remoteness before, but intend to go one day.

Karpathos is awesome if you like very strong wind and flat water. Again Meltemi which gets funneled between Crete and Turkey and then accelerated down the side of hill, it's nuts. Most reliable wind I've seen, locals complain if they have to rig larger than a 4.5m. The windsurfing is down by the airport. Do not on any account stay down there as it's boring as, stay in the town which is really nice. The sailing area is 3 bays: chicken bay is the only one to consider learning in, but not ideal as it can get very strong and gusty. the middle bay is rubbish (hello mistral centre), the top bay is where you want to be. The island is beautiful and off the beaten track and, if you do go, get there on the small Olympic Air island hopper plane (book well in advance).

Hey Maxa , windsurfed Paros at the huge windsurf centre great flat water pond before the reef then some great waves too jump. They couldn't beleive I only wanted the gear for an hour. Was more expensive hiring kit /hr then hiring a car /day
