I went to the Guy Cribb freeride course last year in Safety Bay. It was pretty good, but I am not sure I would get much out of it if I did it a second time. He's advertising the clinics again now, so I got to thinking whether I would go again or try the wave clinic.
So.... who has been on the Guy Cribb wave clinic?
Was it worthwhile? What sort of things did he teach you?
Where was it held and were the conditions good?
I did the course in Lancelin last year. Awesome!
We sailed Main Break and South Passage. Conditions can vary but tend to be cross onshore to sideshore and waves around head high depending on the swell sailing 5.3 and 4.7 but can often be windier.
You will go over some of the things covered in the freeride course but we had a number of people who had done that course who came to the wave course also.
Topics include(referring to the 10 pages of notes I made!): kit set up, working on acceleration/ upwind on wave gear, control, jumping, riding, damage limitation, wave selection, catching waves, tacking, loop prep.
Frequent beach based skills sessions followed by on the water practise.
You need to work on your sailing fitness to get the best out of it as 4 days can be full on if it is windy (but you can always take a breather if you want)
Great to stay at the Lodge and have plenty of talk time in the evenings / mornings with video review.
Have a look at the Facebook page photos (scroll down to Epic Australia for photos from a light wind day at Wedge)

I have been windsurfing 30 years (I know I should not need courses by now) but it supercharged my sailing and pumped up the stoke. I have had a great year's sailing this year and the switch to the waist harness on Guy's advice has even helped my speed sailing!
If you are looking to improve your sailing in the waves. Do It!
