Maybe Oldskool or other enthusiast(s) in Qld this could become part of your collection. Just fix the gasket and get her sailing and keep her on the water. This was top pro equipment in 1984, probably still quick today in a breeze.
I've got one of those under the house at the old man's place down in Vic. Every time I visit over summer I get it out and go yeah...
...nah
Actually it was a complete slug even back then.
Really interesting, glad I never got one. They were lauded as I recall.
Could be time for someone to post the really good Hi-Fly ad again.....!
You asked for it.
Memories come flooding back...... the first Rottnest race, sometime in the late 80's....
As I picked the Hi-Fly race off the roof rack, the finbox just fell out on to the road... ended up doing it on a Surf Partner Ray.
I don't remember ever having such a laugh, fanging back from Rottnest, on a full blown Seabreeze through Gage Roads, with a bunch off other loonies, on long boards, big sails, everyone exploding as we hit terminal velocity!!
Fun!
RichardG, yeah Nah. Have been slowly culling my collection. Down to 3 SPEED RBs ,1 SPEED 125, 1 SPEED World Cup Slalom 8'10", 1*BOARD 380 Phantom RB ,1 AHD FD149 ,1 AHD FF130, 1 AHD Attitude Convert 108, 1 FANATIC Falcon 122. Oh, also a BIC 210s for teachin up n coming Wind Warriors. Collection peaked at 20 boards. Phew, got some space around the house now.

I always thought if boobs were required, then there must be better boards available, Marlin, another one.
The ads were always better than certain boards, just like HiFly.
Yeah, that was the Ad that sucked me into buying a Dufour as my first board when I was 16

Same azuli !
Me and my brother did a paper round (BMX and milk crate on the handlebars) for a whole year and bought a second hand Dufour Wing.
The next year we bought a Wally, so much better !
And I love how one little innocent suggestion of a very old ad ......... !
Actually it was a complete slug even back then.
The year it came out it was anything but slow; I remember them being considered the fastest board at the Worlds unless you were heavy, in which case the Lightning was quick.
Yes I recall them being fast especially in decent breeze. Their first model seemed the best the later ( bigger volume) versions were dogs. Then the Equipe and post-mk1 Lightnings hit ( and I guess even the Tiga Pro) and the hi fly suddenly didnt seem quick at all! Be great to sail one again I'm amazed any are in usable condition
My first board was the 1984 HiFly 500. I started racing it and found that it was a dog compared to the Mistral Superlight, my second board I bought in 1985. The Bic Dufour Wing was much faster than the HIfly too.
Mine was a HiFly 111 from 1980 if I recall. Loved it then. I was 16! No straps, no harness, just sink on bones and a 4.5m2 made custom by the local North Sail repair shop that clearly needed a bit more outhaul!
Then I got a Local Motion "HiFly" 9-footer custom and that was the beginning of shortboards for me in 1984. Here with an early 3.5m2 Tushingham mylar sail. This thing was light and fast for the time. And I still have it as living room trophy!
Wow... that's so far back ...makes me dizzy!
