Here's a quick video of a Hot Rod 92 proto being CNC milled directly from our CAD design files.
Many thanks to Leighton Clark and Rod from Ding King for allowing us to use their CNC machine until we get ours own machine later this year. So from now on all of our #oesaustralia boards will CAD designed, CNC Milled then hand tuned by myself to finished the shaping process.
Cool Peter......I have not seen a setup like this with the board moving in the X axis and the cutter moving in the Y and Z. It make a lot of sense though not having to move the cutter the full length of the board.
Shape 3D or Board CAD ?? wish they would read Iges files.

Martian, This is a APS 3000 CNC shaping machine that runs on the Shape 3 D software. There is about 100 of these around the world developed by Miki Langenbach from the Gold Coast. The advanages of this machine is the rotary carbine cutter, with a tool path / G code ability to fully cut the rail with out the need to go to a more expensive 4 or 5 axis cnc machine. The quality of the cuts and eases of blank set up both in PU and EPS is not surpassed, which then enables the finished cut shape very little time to hand finish.
How does the blank mount to the carriage ?
The blank is held in position on the carriage by two set stands and three vacuum suction cups stands. Blank is then lined up along the stringer with a laser light.
