I gave ice boat racing a go yesterday. Think I've found something to pass the time in the winter.
Got in, sheeted in, then spent the next hour terrified and frozen at 70kph. Awesome going again tomorrow.

You go about 4x wind speed with no way of stopping. Huge buzz.
Next project is to try and workout how to attach my windsurf rig and some skates to my snowboard

Prince Edward Island , Canada. Talking to the guys the ice is good for about 3months a year so that plus the 6months I can windsurf only leaves 3months where I need to find another pass time.

Having some good Windski sessions lately. Channel 12 news stopped by and started filming me and wanted to do a story on windskiing.

I made mine off of a waterski and mounted and cut a sled with foot straps on it. I have 2 skegs available for shallow or deep snow, both skegs are different lengths. Here are some close ups of the windski.

Thanks Olskool! It's pretty cool to be able to windsurf across the snow. The setup holds up pretty well. Going on 6 seasons with it now, same foot straps and hardware and no issues with anything failing. Sail it pretty hard in lots of different snow and wind conditions. I've catapulted with it, ran over some barely burried rocks and it is still solid.

Magic has a water ski with a fin - probably not so good on straight ice
I like to sail on ice , but my snow models are okay up to about 3 inches snow
Magic's probably works better than my models in deeper snow ...

You can insert a water bottle under the rubber tube with a bungie cord securing it to the board.

Yes! The ski will not work on ice, only snow. Preferably packed down snow is the best. If there is unwanted drag to the ski, I just wax it and the thing just wants to take off!!
