Hi, the universal joint for my Speed SS125L has perished so I'm seeking advice about replacing it. I can get a standard universal joint but I'm not sure about getting the right sized pin that locks into the sliding mast foot.
Any advice appreciated, particularly from anyone with an old Speed board.
Just sold my SS125L last year. Think i still have the stainless pin. Lemme dig it out n get some measurements.
Where you located ?
Hi olskool and thanks for your reply.
I should have described the bottom pin and universal joint in my first post. It's early 90s vintage so pretty old ! The pin itself doesn't appear to screw in/out - it actually looks like it is connected to a metal disc within the universal joint itself (the universal joint is a clear-ish yellow rubber so you can see partways into it, and there's a disc inside which presumably is designed to keep the pin from tearing out). The pin is 12mm in diameter, 20mm long, with a 3mm slot for the locking mechanism about 9mm from the bottom of the pin. The slot section is 8mm diameter.
From my googling it seems maybe something like a Exocet Cobra (?) pin may work (if I can get one), with a few washers if the upper section of the pin is a little too long.
Alternatively I can email a few shops.
I'm in Canberra.
Cheers
It uses a single pin to connect the universal joint directly to the sliding mast track. I can't post pics but it is the same mast track as the grey Speed SR250L in the thread about Speed raceboards started on 2 August 2020 (the pic by YP1 on 8 August 2020)
