my poor 16 year old harness is on its last legs, anyone out there can recommend me a harness, seat preferably, for flat water and ocean sailing
thanks

Dakine Reflex or XT Speed Seat. Don't have much experience with any other brands but I'm sure someone can give a heads up.
+1 on the speed seat. I have tried a number of harnesses for flatwater sailing NP race seat and FO's Transit. None of these worked for me!
For waves I've always preferred Dakine's Thermoform..
i did have Dakine as my preferred brand.
i will look into both of these. My poor Proline [some 90's brand i got for Sails & Windsurfing WA years ago] wont hold up to much more abuse by the looks of it.
thanks

A bit off the track but I had a similar problem with my Dakine seat harness of a similar erra. I tried on modern seat harness's but couldn't find any suitable for a woman. Some had high backs which don't fit our curvier back..and hit my upper back as a result. The others had a clip system that was too hard to open with a females little fingers.
I couldn't get my old one tight enough as I'd lost weight.Luckily a trip to the sailmaker for some restitching + a piece of foam padding in the back has given it another lease of life.
Switched to an FO Transit this season.
The higher hook means you can dog along hooked in, and your legs have more freedom of movement than a traditional seat (Great for sailing in choppy water).
I like it a lot
I'll eventually need a new harness and these look interesting but I don't want to buy unless I try it on first .I've found a lot that look ok are uncomfortable on.
The local shop now stocks mainly female kiter harness's. I suppose as I'm the only local female sailboarder I can't expect them to stock female sailboarding harness's.[}:)]
Other than going to Sydney to try some on ( assuming they have female harness's) its going to be a problem deciding on one.
How come I can't do that when I wear my harness..[}:)] Maybe I need a FO one!Does it come with a guarantee that you can do all the latest moves..
Great shot! I was admiring that in your profile. Glad you gave us a bigger photo.
