My trusty old LWB Mitsubishi Delica is coming to the end of its life and I'm looking at new cars so keen to hear what others are using. In a perfect world I'd replace my current delica with a newer delica as it ticks all the boxes: low range 4wd, 7 seats, PLENTY of room for WS gear, Paddle boards, camping gear, it's half comfortable and it's not too bad on diesel consumption. However, Delicas are imports and most of them are 20 yr+...
Which cars are others using that would tick the boxes above? Toyota Landcruisers, a workmate, pajeroes?
Hooksey, thats the maddest lookin Delica around!! Howd it go with those treads? Im looking for something similar. Ive got 100series V8 LC. Good to throw all the gear in. Nice to drive. But it sure sucks down some petrol. Ive had a 1hz Troopy before. Had all my Sparky tools under a false floor, bed, fridge etc. Big ally roofrack to carry whatever on top. (RBs tinny, canoe.) Probably get another one n make a similar setup.
I think you will see that is not his Delica.....
I say Troopie mate. Big investment compared to the Delica but same space but tough, simple, 4WD.
Mercedes Sprinter - 4WD model ... plus some enhancements... really depends on whether you have too much money.

Or just get the base 4WD model on a super-LWB...
prob end up with a Pajero as they seem to fit (more or less) all my needs...
I wish my Delica looked like that.

It is an Eura mobil activa one 690 hb.
It got a great cargo space. On that trip we had 4 boards, one isup, 6 sails and masts, 4 booms and a foil. And still room to spare. And no need to climb on the roof. In my opinion the best RV for windsurfing you can drive on a normal lisence in the EU and belive you me, I did a lot of research. Sometimes we are just 2 adults, and the rest of time 2 adults and 4 kids.
Cool thanks for the update Kasper. Was dreaming a while ago looking at these vehicles but none seem to have a decent cargo space!
Andrew Haigh's beast of a truck does it for me. Serious drool material. Andrew - will you share a few pics please so that we may graciously envy?
Yeah. It`s the new Mistral explosion stubby concept, might be on the market in 2019??????
Just packed for the Nordic Championship. Everything fits in cargo room. Will post a picture tomorrow
Eckas, I'm glad you like my truck. I don't seem to have any pics of it with the windsurfing gear inside.
Here is a YouTube vid I shot when I first got it before I put windsurfing racks in.
As promised some pictures of the cargo space and one of me flying across the finishline at the Nordic Championship
