new pc2 custom board, owner clocked 35 on his first test run in 25/30 knts
twin 30cm weedies by pc2
Must be those racing stripes, Sean
I'd be curious to find out why the 2 fins? They're quite big too, so would've thought they'd add unnecessary drag.
I think there was a HiFly board with a similar twin fin flat water set up. It would be fun to try out such a board. It would also be fun to go windsurfing on a week off work but on both counts it's not to be. Such is life.
from what I read Nigel, he is waiting for his 24 twin weedies, apparently he sails in shallow weedy water.

Hi Moby.
I had a Hi Fly 'Madd' for a while. It was more freeride/freewave rather than speed oriented.
It had a wave board shape but was 125 litres.
The idea was that you could use a big sail with 2 shallow fins so it was perfect for shallow water sailing in light wind areas.
It was really light and fun to sail.

You run 2 smaller fins than one bigger fin.
I have had a lot of Twin fin Hifly boards and still have one. Twin fin is so much more comfortable to sail with than a single fin they don't spin out and if they do they self correct. Currently running my with 2 x Gun Sails Weed control 29. They work really well with delta fins (eliminate all the issue you have with a single delta)
I think there would be real potential for a twin fin speed board in shallow weedy spots....you can run smaller fins and have no spin out.
F2 currently do a range of their Vegas boards as a twin fin.

Lawn looks good but needs a light rake or the leaf blower. Would make the pup happy.
Didn't someone do this with a formula board. They did it to run in shallower water but could still have the fin area.
After seeing kiters doing multi fins on their race boards, and how quad waveboards go upwind so well I have wondered about multiple fins on freeride / race boards.
Immediately the lack of length is a massive advantage.
Any downsides (bar weight) ????
I've got an rrd evolution 360 with twin fins. It's surprisingly fast and two 34cm fins is much more user friendly than one 56cm. One day I will back to back test it against my other wide boards. I got it to teach my kids but it has had more use with me
how bout a tri-fin formula ??
Isn't that Stu's (from Lake Illawarra)?
