It's been fantastic. I've been watching all week on my phone at work.

Ps: don't hold your breath Azuli, there'll be an LT sailor along very soon to tell us how going at 5 knots is so much more fun than PWA Slalom racing.

Just been watching a few of the men's heats. Julien doing well with a 2nd place but then a crash in another heat. I sailed that spot 2 years ago gets pretty rough out there. live drone coverage and commentary from Sean and Ben is fantastic.
Happy belated birthday Sean.

Great footage. Wonder why Albeau is off the pace?
But why bag out windsurfing and a part of it that's got people back in the sport and started up a form of racing again?

I'm not bagging out any form of windsurfing, but if you've been on here much lately, you'd understand I was joking about certain LT sailors coming onto just about every thread telling us all how we should be sailing an LT, when it's clear that not everyone is into that kind of sailing. My joke was in response to Azuli mentioning the LT sailors hijacking the foil threads.

A: I race the state slalom series in my state as well as compete in foiling races when the opportunity arises.

B: sailed an LT design back in the 80's and have spent time teaching beginners on similar equipment recently.

Also, you don't need to experience slamming your head in a car door to know it's not something you want to replicate. If you enjoy it, then that's great.

It's been amazing to watch and very impressive to see the skills of the top pwa sailors and the locals. That crash was just crazy...
some words would have been exchanged afterwards.

the Lt wasnt around in the 80's
and anyone can sail state based slalom.

how is it you can compare 2 things you've never done.

How to high jack a thread and make it all about you and your retro windsurfing- FFS!

It was a positive thread to draw interest about an amazing event with awesome action modern live action in an amazing location, and that was available for us to see here in our own time zone, showcasing windsurf racing at its best....hopefully the event continues in NC, a great opportunity for Aussies to compete or simply attend as a spectator, or even watch in real time at a decent hour.

Nothing to do with retro windsurfing and nothing to do with a Cat and a funny looking hat!

maybe you should aim your anger towards the person that introduced the Lt to the thread.
to bring things back on topic.

the pwa is not the most talked about thread on seabreeze because the LT is.

lol

Thanks Jonesysail.....
everyone needs to get over to NC and chill out, say g'day to our mate Seanhogan and go sailing in paradise on whatever floats your boat. But a foil and sail upwind/downwind anywhere to the islands would be magnificent!

This event sounds cool and I understand Pierre Mortefon is the new PWA Slalom champion as a result. By the way the link posted above is not working. A great result for him since he was always a contender and now he is the victor at 30 yrs. Also Fanatic Duotone have a champion in the slalom now, its been a while I think. When was the last slalom race champ from that team ?

They never did. Since PWA slalom 'restarted' in 2005 Dunkerbeck came second a bunch of times while he was on North but won his world titles on Severne.

Maui Meyer could have been a contender back in the day not sure if he persisted enough in slalom being at Cornell University while the World Cup was on. Clearly not a racing maneouvre but its Fanatic North from the early days.
