First Japan got cancelled and now Korea has been cancelled.
Is this the end of the pwa?
Maybe they just have to come down under instead
From the PWA notice to competitors in regards to Japan:
"The Japanese Government has issued a directive for the restraint of nonessential and nonurgent activities in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, many large-scale events within Japan have been cancelled".
The exact same thing has happened in Korea. To be honest, windsurfing was lucky to fit in that Defi Wind Japan in (if it was a few weeks later.... pfffft gone).
3rd coronavirus case in Spain now (the latest one in Tenerife)... let's see how the rest of the season pans out
Hard to see how they are going to contain this thing, going to be a challenging year to get any of the events of the ground at this rate.
I'm not expecting to see much new kit this year either for the same reason...
The real crime here though is why isn't there any PWA foil "course racing" this season?
I can only guess it's because it's boring to watch.
Slalom is easy to follow. Everyones lined up and on the same path.
Course racing doesn't translate so well. I guess why the foiling cats use overlays on the TV to show relative position to the marks.
Looks like staying in Tenerife may not be a winning play either...
www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-25/spain-isolates-tourists-on-luxury-island-hotel-amid-virus-fears
"Spanish authorities isolated about 1,000 guests and workers at a seaside hotel on the Canary island of Tenerife after an Italian tourist there initially tested positive for the coronavirus. A first test also showed a woman in Barcelona has the disease after returning from a trip to Italy. Hotel guests and employees may not enter or leave the H10 Costa Adeje Palace until there is definitive confirmation on whether the tourist is infected, an official from the Canary Islands government confirmed by phone. The people are being held in preventive isolation, not under a formal quarantine, the person said."
I don't think this will be the last event that gets cancelled sadly. When you read between the lines of the statements the WHO is releasing it sounds like not if a pandemic will occur but when.
lets hope it doesn't get to that.
The iwt may be the winner

Will be interesting to see what happens when the Olympics start.
You mean if the Olympics start
