I am more interested to see the end grain balsa (?) sandwich layer.... yes?

Nope. Masking tape. There is hoop veneer under the tape in the photo.

I have some questions if I may. Did you use thickened resin under the balsa. Is it used on the bottom and of so ,how did you hold it down. Does it easily wrap around the rails. How thick is it .What glass layers did you use?

Yes. I use different additives for different jobs. For wood I use an additive used for wooden boats that makes the epoxy act like glue.

not on bottom.
only as an inlay to full deck. Doesn't wrap rails. Rails are glass wrap

Loving end grain balsa use, prob cheap ish for u lucky Qlders ??
WA - no corecell anymore due to sh!t distributors. Qld has it
Could never get bamboo veneer. Only from Qld
No decent sized sheets of end grain balsa here.

I bought a bunch of balsa from mark riley ages ago. That's the last of it so I'm going to try something different next build. I've got a roll of armacell Rpet core and some Rpet structural board I set plugs and boxes in. Enough for a few builds so that's next.

Smaller quantities of Hoop pine veneer have disappeared for me. Kinda sux. It's the best species to use. matilda veneer has it but only in joinery size sheets.
