Anyone got any reasonably priced sources? I'm wasting too much time making them in dual density and to look purrrdy.
So far I can only find a place in Croatia that are priced OK (ish) but they are really inconsistent with communication so I'm not game to buy.

Just want a nice 10mm - ish pad set that is already cut out.

Thanks for replies peeps
I am aware of the Northshore and they're great as they do a dual density. However I don't like the individual front bits, I want it one piece. They're also fairly pricey if you add the dual layer

OTOH I'm sick of sticking 5mm EVA diamond to flat black EVA and cutting out etc. Its OK for now and then but not too much, just labour intensive

Trouble is, Googling gives you a billion results for surf tail pads and sheets of EVA that we all know exists. Finding windsurf board dual density foot pads = hard

I could live with thick cut-diamond EVA like 10mm and just do single layer but also having trouble finding that. Seen it around on boards now and then, but not for sale

I think the thick stuff is 12mm.

I am also keen to find better options.
Maybe, if you have a design get a Aussie boat deck company like seadek to quote a run of deck pads. Not sure what patterns / textures they could do??

Hand cutting pads gets old quick .

Why can't you source blank EVA at whatever thickness n hardness you need. Then use a small CNC mill to cut the grip pattern n logos etc.
I see a small business. Hmmmm...

I'm a bit lost, you would like to use an alternative to eva foam sheets? You find cutting them time consuming?

Mark,
if you are prepared to pay for tooling (basic, could make it yourself) you can design your own & have them moulded from the same material as the Rampz Pads.
You can any size & shape, any thickness, variable thickness if required & any colour & pattern.
It is the same material that is inside Gath Helmets, soft & comfy as well as tough, doesn't tear like EVA.

PM me for supplier details if interested.

Yes to make them well is too long.
Glue cut diamond EVA to a softer flat EVA.
Cut close to size.
Attach to jig top and bottom and clamp down.
Router around edge with 45deg flush trim bit, whilst moving the clamps again and again.

Make more jigs for different sizes and also having a flat table set up for clamping is all too hard.
Plus screwing around with router which is already sized for doing windsurf board inserts and boxes at 1" deep, so really means buying another router to do more work. Mess.

Or, cut at 45deg with a sharp knife and that works OK but it is inconsistent and rules out doing curves.

Then, I priced out the 3M adhesive backing and its horrendously expensive. God knows what the chinese manufacturers are using cos I can't buy the 3M for less than about $30 per pad.

So I'd rather get pre-made ones.

The windfluechter ones look AWESOME that is exactly what I want but its non- adhesive and so for the cost ($100 a set by the time I get them landed here) I'd rather have self adhesive. I'm happy to pass on the cost to the customer, but not too much!!!! Will keep looking, but they are maybe an option.

Love the suggestion as I could make moulds easily- but OTOH trying to not spend time on this.
Pondering :)

Cheers!

Hi Mark l had James from Carbon Art send me over some dual density pads for a slalom board for $85 delivered to NSW,just peel off backing and stick on. Only trouble for you would be CA logo but he may have plain ones.

I went with NSI as well. It's a bit strange because $200 can buy you a board, while a replacement pad is close to $100 ! Next time I may buy a board instead so I get a set of pads, straps and fin(s) :) !

Anyway, was super easy to cut at 45~60 degrees. I didn't reproduce the designs though, with multiple colors, that'd be more difficult for sure.

Oh and next time I think I'll go squares instead of diamonds which I thought were tearing too fast.

It's a once only thing & can be done with resin etc.

EVA can be moulded also, I used to make Toe Jambs from 8mm in a conical shape with Hydro logo. POP.
Takes 10 seconds to mould each one.

F2 used to mould their pads & they lasted way longer, the diamonds never ripped off.

Mark,
The easiest way is to spray contact adhesive, in a 5 Litre pressure pot it never goes off & is always at the ready.
I always had mine full for gripping booms & only used it once a week.
Make a template to lay on the board & spray, 5 seconds per pad.

I still have the Pot & spray gun which just happens to be for sale cheap!
