This arvo whilst setting up to sail I feel this lump hit my foot, thinking maybe a ray or a cobbler I just kicked without thinking, then whack.......... A CRAB! A CRAB HAS MY TOE AND MY BOOTIE ............ Little biter, I kicked like a bastard and the little %^&$ had another crack, fastest water start I have done in ages!
You have been warned!
GT
Ive been bitten by a couple of the little buggers too whilst sailing there. I hope the crab enjoyed the post-nip show as i jumped and yelled obsenities at the sun, I didn't
I suppose id probably have a nip at the monster standing on my head too if i thought I was gonna get squashed!
Are crabs the devils work? Evil little buggers, and yes fair call, If you stood on my head I too would bite.
Sorry Mr Crab (Ya bastard)
GT
Lucky you had a bootie on. It could have been worse.
I too got sucked in and thought you might have been warning about a man in a grey suit.
I prefer crabs!
A shark had a go at me the other day, at Crowdy Head, on the Crowdy Bay National Park (northern) side. Was in the surf, overcast day, water not very clear, about 3pm in the afternoon, within the breakzone of the surf.....this thing leapt up out of the water about 2 foot towards the mast, about 6 inches in front of my front foot, then fell back in the water. I had seen what I thought was a fin circling around in the water, but dismissed it as being an hysterical hallucination. I think, as there has not been much bait fish around, and water was still quite cool, it was a tad hungry and wanting a closer look at what was in his/her turf. Scared the crap out of me, and got out straight away. Told some folks along the beach who were swimming, but they didn't seem too worried. A local surfer had been attacked on the southern side of Crowdy earlier this year.

i started wearing booties because of the crabs there every time i drop in i get back on quick or you can see me constantly moving because if you stay still they will get you the first time they bite is a big shock, i have also been bitten by a crab at lucky bay so just be aware and don't hang around unless you can see what is around
Lol You have to watch out for the crab divers to in summer in the sound They should have a dive flag There difficult to see when your heading towards the sun
Sorry about the bit that made things sound worse but I kinda wanted that reaction, worked better for the tale side of things.
Lots of good advise re the crabbs and how to avoid them, I however want daily patrols and a frog man......... Ooops a Crab man snorkelling and warning us of the terrible danger lurking below
Mandurahhhhhhhhhhh, It's not just the crabs, its those devil fish, rocks that launch my fellow riders without notice and ELMO! WHO WANTS TO SAIL WITH A CRASHING PUPPET???? And a fast pappet at that
Cheers GT
No worries. I think we all figured out you were "trolling".
I think I saw a seal at Safety Bay once, on the sand bar near the jetty, and it seemed to be playing with a fish. When I thought I saw this, I was half tempted to get closer to see if it really was what I thought it was, and half tempted to get the heck out of there in case it was something else!
Has anyone else seen this, or was it just a hungry Euro kiteboarder?
wouldnt be at all suprised if it was a seal you saw, they do like sunbaking on Seal Island round the corner from the pond....
I had one hanging of my foot in Melville the other day haha. I was pissed off first but then I realised.. What would I do if I had pincers, would weigh not even a kilo and some 88 kg big dude would stand on top of me?
there were plenty here today mostly up by the yatch club shallow end of the pond you could see them all running about thank god for booties, i am sure one was chasing me
