Hey All,
I have a 5.4m Neil Pryde Atlas that needs the luff pocket repaired (snapped mast), anyone have any suggestions for sail maker on Northen Beaches Sydney or Eastern Suburbs Sydney?
Cheers,
B.
I've has several of those, and have never fixed them, it doesn't seem to effect the sail much at all, and they don't get worse, assuming the tear is horizontal only. I'd just keep using it and only go for a repair if it seems to get worse.
It's not particularly an easy fix, a fair amount of disassembly needs to happen for that kind of repair.

With that avator / name I think you're the best person to reply..
These guys do good repairs: www.barracoutasails.com.au
Appart from sails they also repair board bags. Maybe give them a call. They'll be able to talk you through your options.
With torn mast sleeves they usually just straighten the tear and sow a patch over the top. I have not heard of anyone replaying the entire mast sleeve.
as I sail maker I would say leave it...To repair it they have to unstitch the luff tube, patch it which usually never matches the exact colour then re-stick and sew it, which takes a while at the best of time.....Its not under much tension at that point of the sail.
