We've been having a lot of fun here at Sanctuary Point now that the school holidays are in full swing. Heaps of kids have come here for the summer and joined forces with the local kids. On most days half the windsurfers here are under 15 years old.
They love windsurfing together and have been encouraging and helping each other to improve their skills.
We had been thinking of organising some racing and other kids' events for a while and today we trialled SuperX. Keith's weed fins made it nice and safe for those who haven't got jumping totally worked out yet and we also saw some nice high jumps including Spocks and Loops as well as a lot of creative ways of gybing around the buoys.
Kids and adults alike gave it their best and all participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
If anyone is interested in following what we're doing with the kids down here, you're welcome to have a look at the Sanctuary Point Sailboarders Facebook page. We'll also be posting dates for other events and upcoming kids' clinics there
Elli (9) and Liam (8) racing toward the jump:
Today Elli did her first jumps.
Looks good arkim
How's Keith's spocks coming along?
thanks for asking Derrin I'm having a bit of trouble with the chop hop other than that I've almost got them nailed
This is really excellent. You guys obviously put in a lot of time and effort into this and should be congratulated.
Well done everyone for getting the young ens into this great sport.
Cheers
Well done Arkim.
I can see it now "Arkim's summer windsurfing camp"
where do we sign up :) Great stuff guys. Not sure superX was in the design spec for Elli's little 2.5 Ezzy!
Hi all .... it looks like sailing is alive and well at Sanctuary Point
I'm at Bendalong and just got back into sail boarding.
I've been trying Swan Lake ..... it looks like I should come and find you guys!!!!
Great to see the kids flying .... my son just started kiteboarding .... I reckon he could crossover if he saw these guys!!!!
I'd love to see a video of the kids doing that.
What tricks do you include?
We had everyone doing their hardest trick around the buoys (trying to make it possible for anyone to win). The only way we could slow Alex down is to get him doing vulcans at the gybe marks.
Good idea about the video. It would be nice to do one every summer as the kids grow up.

Definitely worth the drive. Sorry to hear about your son but we'd do whatever we could to help.
Well done Akim (it's pronounced with an r but not spelled with it )
I can see it now "Akim's summer windsurfing camp"
It runs all through January.
There seems to be one very old kid out there
There's still a chance I might grow up before you do.
