If it is like the wave Enigma boom then that is probably it - THE freemove boom from Severne.

THE boom. The only one. Try and get if you want but that's it, right there. Somebody else is using it so you have to wait several years to get a go on it.

Maybe they could try making more than one this time so that it is actually possible to purchase one ?

The 170 booms have only recently started production, so you're spot on when pointing out this is currently THE freemove boom form Severne.

For the existing wave and slalom sizes, supply has been good.

The 170 freemove will fill the gap in the range between the wave and slalom shapes. It'll be here in modest numbers this summer, and considering the amount of people who were requesting this size it'll sell out. We are trying to make as many as possible, but there's only one mould, and many countries placing orders.

Not sure if this is a better dig at Severne or Pryde! Yes the tail piece is initially familiar when looking at the outline and inset pulley system, but when considering the rest of the boom, reduced diameter grip, stiffness, weight, clips, and supply, the boom is no doubt an Enigma.

Hi

What is the cost of this boom compared to the Enigma Slalom?
I can get a brand new Enigma Slalom in europe for 700€, how about this one?

Havent seen any store in Europe selling them.

Cheers from Portugal :)

Have we got a price from a retailer yet on this one.

Maybe if we place bulk orders we could get a special seabreezers price.

Anyone offering any good deals

The distribution here in Australia is run in house. This boom has been in the works for a few seasons now, and we've had these 170's on order since before they were even cleared for production. We've also ordered them in good numbers, knowing how many of our local shops and sailors here have been waiting for them. Also, don't forget there are products that are available in Europe which are sold out, or in short supply here in Australia. With Metal 140's, replacement boom clips, Raceboard 9.5's being a few examples..

It's not surprising that Europe is, generally speaking, a little slower to react when it comes to new products, and a little more conservative when committing to numbers. We saw the same thing with the Blade Pro and S-1 Pro wave sails. 'This is the best bloody wave sail we've ever produced - order at least, 80 of them!' somehow doesn't get distributors as excited as we think it should. Ben's been using them for few seasons now, we were excited, and we ordered well, backed up by the Australian Retailers who placed good orders with very limited info. Since the the Pro's were produced in limited numbers, many in Europe missed out completely.

Back to the carbon booms. When demand is high, it's almost impossible for the factory to keep up. Carbon booms are hand made, they all come out of the same mould, and there are significant curing times required.

With that in mind, there are 170's on the way, look to Germany, Spain, Holland and the UK. But don't be surprised if they prefer to hang onto their stock and supply their local customers first.

Price wise, they'll sit between the Enigma wave 150 and the Enigma slalom 180..

Enigma Free-Ride booms are now hanging from the rack, waiting for their new owners to take them home;)
