Hi,

Plastic tip of my brand new mast got separated after using it for a week, it was really annoying to take the tip out of the sail after each session. Now I applied some silicone and its ok.

But before that, I realized top half of the mast was really heavy, i could hear the water in it but water stayed there even when i shook it, something was blocking inside. Then i put a garden hose inside, with a little pressure a 5cm cylinder of white sponge came out.

What is this sponge for and is it any problem to take it out?

Thanks

kato

its just a plug to slow or stop water getting in. some masts have them and some don't.

well obviously it also has the unwanted function, of keeping water in. With the tip siliconed in water entry shouldn't be a problem anymore
