Geez that one up against his van is one beautiful looking board - is that timber veneer or a timber decal over the carbon?

I am constantly amazed SA does not seem to get much (windsurfing) press considering just how well he performs year in year out in the PWA. The quiet achiever!

Patrik doesn't use wood in any of his boards. He has a bunch of reasons like wood been a natural product he cannot predict consistently quality over the whole sheet and wood has to forced into the shape required sometimes causing problems and water and wood dont mix should water get in and other stuff i cant remember :-)

Steve is a celebrity overseas, he should get more recognition here I reckon. Especially from Yachting Australia, Steve put his hand up for London 2012. But dont get me started on Yachting Australia.

Will never forget watching Steve Allen racing at the South Beach Aust Slalom Championships in Fremantle all those years ago.

Must have been close to 20 years now. Time does fly!

Sat the whole afternoon on the sand watching a very strong field of round 70-80 sailors, with around 8-10 competing in each heat. There were around 20 top level Scandinavian sailors.

Wind was 25 knots with the start out around 700 metres from shore.

The first mark was near the shore and SA made it there first in every one of the 8 or so heats.

Robbie Radis finished second in seven of the eight heats, winning the last one.

Slowboat and Dan were a bit off the pace that day mostly racing in the second elimination.

In the very last race of the day SA went over the front after hitting the steep chop.

With a quick water start he found himself in third place around 100 metres plus behind a Japanese sailor and Robbie.

He put the pedal down and was catching up freaky fast before hitting another bit of chop and going over the front again!

Still managed to finish third in the heat and won the other seven races comfortably.

Dont let anyone tell you this guy is not super fast.

Awesome event, awesome conditions with a start time of around 2-30 pm which gave the seabreeze a chance to fill in.
