...the 'endangered multi-coloured fin shark' has been extinct for about 35 years. Great pic of them in their prime during a feeding frenzy though!
It was taken in the Kimberleys somewhere, during a huge flash flood. The coloured witches hats used to look very pretty back in those days.
As flash floods have only been known to happen since 'global warming', it must have been in the last 5 years.
Clue: I threw the title/year in to confuse you'z.
Rick seems to know what he's talking about...
Answer in a few hours.
The answer was the Windsurfer Worlds' in Adelaide (was it Glenelg really?), december 1990.
Aus4, you knew, you're good !
okies, I hadn't seen the "championship" bit...so it was a race. and maybe i'm going to continue to being a bit thick here, but when I see the term "world" I'm assuming it was an international event. Strange that Glenelg would host that when Aus has so many better spots! (no offense to any of my fellow crow-eaters, but we know it's the truth!)
Yeah, know what you mean about Adel...
The year before had been in Newcastle, NSW, on the lake side.
I vaguely remember that in 1990 was supposed to have been in Italy, but they pulled out. Somehow a local shop in S.A. picked up the comp. I don't think the turnout was as international as had been in earlier years though, due to the late organisation. That was at the tail-end of that kind of sailing as an international comp.
Cheers.
