I posted this on the Vic forum, but thought it might be an interest here as well

Hi Guys, As a addicted windsurfer, I always wanted to film my friends on the water, for a daily job I fly multi-rotors for the cinema industry(people call them Drones) Yesterday morning I joined Dan Cole, to film a bit and see what we can achieve, It is a really short cut from about an hour of great footage we got that day, and I hope I can film other guys and some events(SHQ maybe?), I think it adds a new dimension and perspective that only that type of machine can get
Hope you like it!

Damn that's great you should head over to New Caledonia for the upcoming PWA event. Your filming is better than lots of their event footage.

Yeah, this was my first thought - but what else what can you tell us about the 'multi-rotor' used to film this?

Our community has been looking for something this capable for a while now! Tell us moar!

Look forward to some more footage. How close do you think you could get?

Hi guys,

As for the wind, the manufacturer call for maximum wind velocity of 17.8mph - 15knots.
This take to account the accuracy and safety of the unit when not in "manual" flight modes, like we used to to film(hope to have longer version to you all by tomorrow).
Our insurance cover us to high wind speed, per our safety discretion on the location.

The bird used in the video was a S900, with a GH4 camera.

Well, we can get pretty close, but we do have a lot of experience doing that, and I would say its a matter of safety more then anything really,

Cheers

Fantastic footage. First time I have seen a drone used so close for Windsurfing.

So the first review from the amazon.com listing for the S900...

They need one specifically made for smuggling drugs that has a higher weight capacity and better battery with longer range

This review is from: DJI S900 Spreading Wings Hexacopter (Electronics)
I was using this to fly drugs from Tijuana to San Diego and the battery ran out. This needs a bigger battery if you're going to smuggle drugs into the US. Also it doesn't carry enough weight. They need one specifically made for smuggling drugs that has a higher weight capacity and better battery with longer range. Mine got seized by the cops and they won't give it back so I'm going to look for one with more payload capacity and longer.

LOL.

This would add a while new dimension to some of the "learning" clips. Would be awesome to watch people gybing from different angles. This is great stuff

Hey guys, since people are asking which drones are good and what handles well to what wind level, thought I'd chime in and showcase another example of what a non-professional could do.
I've had a drone video up here on the Qld forum subsection for two weeks now. It's not anywhere as well made or edited but its a good proof of concept, using the phantom 3 drone. Check out the thread if you want more details.

RRD fireStorm111, really nice actually,(I use it often) but gave it back to Dan with feet strap to small, and with little time to adjust before the rain we had to "go for it"
