hey red, great choice - one problem though - you wont want to come back! i lived there for many years, taking sea kayaking tours. 'coota has it all - fishing, surfing kayaking, mtn. biking, diving, and of course windsurfing. all of which are first class. windsurfing options are 1/ on the lower lake: good for anything except easterly. launch out at karbethong on the big grassy bit, and blast away. head over to the large flat goodwin sands, which are only a foot high, and on the other side is a mirror flat speed strip. 2/ the bit near the mouth. great on a sea breeze, which goes over the sandbar creating more flat stuff. watch the tides here, they can rip. also depends where the actual mouth is these days. (it moves) 3/ the ocean. awesome. blast away from bastion pt. and do whatever. awesome wave at the inlet mouth (watch for surfers), at bastion pt. itself, and around the corner on the beaches. or blast out to tullaberg island (7km) or gabo (14km).always heaps of ab. boats around if ya get in trouble. the locals are a great bunch, just go to the pub and say g'day. (also say g'day from easty, bound to be some mates there) if there's no wind go catch some huge flathead or bream, or sink a few coldies by the water. also worth a walk down the coast. lovely spot. havagoodone
