Yawl .
Rigged this 5.8 RS Racing on an ART ( Powerex ) Joystick 430 90%Carbon
Rigged it to all stated settings but really I dont have much of an idea if this is setting well on this mast or not .
Would like some of the more learned amongst this forum to cast the critical eye and give any pointers or analysis of how this sail appears to be setting .
The cams dont seem to rotate that freely seem to have alot of pressure on them .
Tried to find out about the mast and its suitability for use on Pryde sails but found sort of conflicting stories as to Powerex and Pryde compatabilty
.
Appreciate any advice .
Cheers ,

I have the same vintage 5.8m and use it on a NPX9.
You might find it better with slightly more downhaul, unless the cam pressure increases too much. Go +2cm on outhaul setting and tighten tack strap to counter the extra low down bend with mast than normal. Check batten tension in lower 4 battens is not too tight as that puts a lot of pressure on cams.
See how that goes.
Because the mast bend is slightly lower with that mast it will tend to suck out too much luff round in the sail. The tack strap is a really important adjustment and has the effect of increasing the luff round down low in the sail to bring it close to design.
Hope that makes sense.
Those sails are really nice to sail with and is my favorite.
Yours looks in better condition than mine...... let me know if you cant get it to work I might buy it.....:-)

That rigs likes its on a hard top, pryde require a flex top mast, the sail has now where enough drop in the head. More down-haul wont work either.
Grab yourself an X6, will work fine on that.
yep powerex are constant curve, match severne pretty well not pryde
what this means is that rigged to spec the leach will be too tight and if down haul is pulled to correct this the sail will become too flat in the lower and mid sections
i mean don't get me wrong it is a mast and the sail rigs on it just might not perform as well as it should
the obvious alternatives are the intended pryde x6's and x9's
what else is flex top guys ?
Thanks everyone for the help .
Now I have an ART/Powerex mast for sale ! (see forsale section )
The nice kid is pretty strong but at 4 doesn't seem to be interested in Sailing , thinks Fireman Sam is the thing for him at the moment .
Cheers all

Anthony, generall speaking for the RS Racing series if you can afford an X9 it will be better then a X6. I have used the 2008 RS 5.8 on an X6 quite a bit and it had a lot of middle draft and was a little tight to rotate with full downhaul. Having said that it was still one of my favs and had awesome top end. Enjoy.
