Following Andrew's excellent work in NSW, I compiled and updated a list of the best 2 Sec speed recorded in Queensland. I used GPSTC Individual Rankings for Queensland to identify sailors who have exceeded 40 kts in Qld. There will be some Mexicans who have traveled north of the Tweed to record +40 kt sessions. I seem to recall Daffy doing so at Burrum in 2016. Its difficult to find these sessions to verify the result. Please PM me if you have or know someone who has done so and I'll update the chart.

Updated with missed session for Cock2 at Burrum Heads on 14/3/18 which improves his rank to 11th. I've also changed the Current Team for Richard Stellar and Teaks to "Retired Qld"

Thanks John, but my 2 sec speed at Burrum just missed. 39.814. Peak does not count, but was 40.3.

That is very impressive list ans some outstanding speeds!

John,
To be consistent could you do the same as Andrew does as below from his post.
Happy to do this for you if you do not have the time.

From Andrew post.

Notes on the table.

1. The table shows the best 2 secs speeds posted on GPSTC, with Doppler approved devices
2. The changes since the last post are highlighted in yellow.
3. The File column indicates that either the file is on KA72 or has been privately sent to me.
4. I check all the files in Realspeed, KA72 and GPSResults. (For the Motion I use KA72, GPSResults and GPSspeedreader) I compare all the different error data provided by these programs but only publish the "+/-" error from GPSResults.

My preference is to keep it simple. If the speed is approved in GPSTC then it's good to go.

The latest update takes into account a missed log for Dr Cam from 8/7/18 where he improved his speed to 43kts.

The list is updated to account from Chriso's new 2 sec PB at Cox bank. This is the first +40kt run at Cox bank

So is this the speed he plans to do in July this year? or just a typo?

Andrew, not a typo, but a format issue. The date should be 7/3/30 not 3/7/20. I'll sort out and republish.

So he is going to do it in ten years time?

So, is the gear getting slower or is the wind decreasing over the years? ..(Except for Chrisso, well done mate)

That is actually quite a good question.

I certainly dont think the gear is getting slower, but I am not sure that the best gear from 10-12 years ago was significantly slower either as far as all out speeds on big days are concerned. I am sure the general level of all around speed of the newer gear has got noticeably faster though.

I think I lot of people have commented that they have not had the winds and conditions in the last few years thay they experienced before that. This is very true in some key places.

For instance, Pimbee and Lake Budgiewoi have not been at their best for weed and flat water for the last few years, and the weather patterns have not produced as meany epic days accoring to all the reports I hear.

Sandy Point has not produced many great speed days in the last few years either. It is Parlty due to the sand dune build up, but mostly due to a change in the frontal patterns we have had. There have certainly been a lot less Epic WSW days in the prime times of the year (Autumn and Spring). I think this is related to climate change which has led to a different local pattern, but it is also probably related to a periodic cyclic weather shift as well. (La Nina/El Nino etc)

Lake George has also been affected the last few years. Partly due to less than ideal water levels and weed growth, but there is no denying that the last few January to March periods didn't bring as many srong wind ESE days as we experienced in the 2012-2013 seasons.

Have you noticed different patterns in other parts of Australia?
