Hi ,
GPSTC administration would you consider a change that may bring some more interest in the teams challenge.
Noted in the rules the International teams receive 4 discards a year assuming this was due to Northern winter?
Australian teams are only allowed 1 which for many sailing locations really is not enough considering months of no wind.

Looking at local weather in SEQ and FNQ there are times of year where unless you travel a 1000km plus you just don't not get much sailing for months.
In SEQ we used to get regular westerly winds however with climate patterns moving further south this is just not happening regularly.

Sessions posted KA. Data from Kingdoms .

If you do the maths, you would have to discard 8 months of the year to change the position of the top 3 teams this year.
Discarding less than that does not change the position at all.

Thanks for your observation however if you look for the last 2 years a couple of us in SEQ have driven 1000km to Budgie and Primbee in winter just to get some numbers.
We also have done boat trips across Moreton Bay in Strong winds and large swells just to try and get some points in winter.

FNQ for the first year ever did well as they had some good sailors from Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Harvey Bay Join their Team to give scores in the summer. Not really FNQ sailors only now.

Lake George trips for teams certainly help their scores in February if the Lake is good. Only 2200 km drive from SEQ.

Congratulations on your Win and good luck again next year.

Cocky we know all to well how you feel, with this WA summer being fairly fickle with the Sea breeze.

This month alone if it wasn't for Albany a 825km round trip I'm sure Pinnas would have been in a pickle, I think we have done 3 trips this month alone. Mind you most of our speed locations are still a 150km round trip for most of us as well.

Was a great competition this year with SEQ pushing all the way and kept the Pinnas on there toes throughout. Great to see the competitive spirit alive and well,

I would also be all for additional discards if only to give a rest from travelling to distant locations to chase the wind, might not make a difference to the scores but at least you can discard a couple of bad months.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone Go the Pinnas

Effort (and KM's) = reward.

Personal reward, and possibly Team reward.

Well done Pinnas, Taswegians, SEQ and Mandurah Mob.

Commiserations to SEQ. You have come second or third in each of the last 5 years, which must be very frustrating for you. You are probably the most consistent team in the competition, with some fantastic sailors, and many big efforts. You pushed us hard all year, especially at the end, and it took a big road trip, some world class sailors and and 17 PBs to secure the win. Thanks for the challenge.
