The forecast is looking epic on the limestone coast for Friday. Is anyone planning to sail Lake George?

NO. there is a wave comp at Beachport this weekend.
Lake is full drain M has been flowing at 1.6 gig a day for weeks now. Bool Lagoon is overflowing still. There's no flat water anywhere in a sw to w or any direction really at the moment as water too deep.
Water was 3 inches of the high water sign at 5mile 2 weeks ago. Even the spit track is all underwater and barbie island is under.
Will take a few pics when I'm around there probably Sunday when i have a sail with Geoff.

I think we may suffer from TO MUCH water this summer! Have too many of us been doing deals with the devil?

When, or if, the water does drop to a good level, the windy season may be all over.

The lake peaked at about 0.45m in Spring 2012 and Brad Anderson set the world hour record the following early March.

The above newspaper article talks about a max lake height of 0.55m. If it stopped raining, is there hope of a good sailing season by late summer or early spring?

The year we were there Mark I stayed on into march and it was all over one week into march it was 2015 the Tassie boys arrived as did Byron and Hugh and they all had missed out on the best wind we had in February.

More good news.

Bureau of Meteorology's (BoM) climate prediction services manager Andrew Watkins, (and long time Sandy Point sailor) says the bureau is predicting (among other things):

" Warm waters in the central Indian Ocean may result in higher pressures, south of Australia, resulting in more easterly winds, keeping the west drier than average."

full report here: www.stockandland.com.au/story/4892503/hold-on-rains-coming-to-the-east-says-bom-forecaster/?cs=4786

You know what that means don't you?

Dry conditions to lower the level of LG over Spring and Summer, and a return of the famous LG Easterly wind cycle.

At least I sure hope so!

But he also said winter was the warmest ever recorded and with the underlying dryness in the soil profiles this seasons fire season may be early and extreme So lots of wind but no free time for me

Great news for PJ and others who sail there if it eventuates. Could also mean a better season in Albany if strong highs are parking in the bight
