You cant be serious Andy, every day I came home with a rash on my face, any sores got infected, and wallowing around in that bird**** filled water you get it up your nose. Its not a pleasant place to sail, the only reason people go there is to get Pbs there incapable of getting in there home area. As I questioned several sailors if you didn't have a GT31 glued to your arm would you sail here, response 'Probably Not'
No ,I'd still sail there too. It's a great road trip to somewhere different with great sailing and great company. I love that its a bit toxic with salty water and mud, perfect for keeping the hordes of other water users away.i would still sail without a GPS but why??? The numbers are great but I sail cos its fun not because of a GPS
I guess you miss the point
I'd reckon there'd be good sailing at nearby Beachport if the lake got too much on the nose, or you'd forgotten to pack the GT31 ?

I think you are quite right Ian!
You just have to listen to a few of Jimbobs adventure stories!
I fully intended to both surf sail, and Surf while I was there but did neither in about 6 weeks. There were so many good days on the lake and the surf is a bit more difficult to access than I realised. The ends of the bay where the towns are, are very sheltered from the swell. You really need a 4WD to drive along the beaches to get to the good stuff, at least that was the case when I was there. I saw some good surf whilst riding the Motorbike along the beach but it's not so easy to carry a 9ft Mal on a trail bike, and even more problematic with a windsurfing rig as well!
But Jimbob assures me that great sailing conditions occur regularly in the bay off Beachport and it easy to see why. In a big swell, there are numerous Bommies that pop up in the bay and the prevailing winter westerlies are cross on-shore for blasting along parallel to the beach. You only have to look at some of his old posts!

Someone told me they saw a windsurfer blasting in & out across the bay when we were there.
