I have a Garmin Forerunner 245 music which I love. I use it with Andrew's datafields for onwater feedback but post with my GT31 or motion
I bought it online. After 13months I started having charging issues.
I managed to get it to keep charging for a while but then noticed the plug only had 3 pins instead of 4. I bought another lead which worked the first few times but now doesn't. I've cleaned the contacts. Now it doesn't charge at all so it's useless.
I'm going to contact the seller and try to get onto Garmin but I thought someone here might have a quick fix.

It looks like we might have a fix. I tried cleaning it but we got a wire brush to things and it's working! I'll make sure to really wash it properly after each sail.

Try rubbing an eraser on your contacts. I find it works and its a lot less damaging than a wire brush

I had a similar issue but on closer inspection there was Dom's small sand particles in the charging port of the watch so when plugging in, plug wouldn't seat properly. A quick lladt with the hose and all sorted.

I had a Fenix 5 replaced by Garmin after the charging contacts corroded and it wouldn't charge. I now use a small silicone dust cover available on eBay over the charge contacts. Prior to fitting this silicone cover is filled with Vaseline. After 6 months of hard use the contacts are still bright and shiny.

I'm still having issues. Latest fix was a rub with a scourer. Thanks I'll try some of the suggestions.
I love the watch and it's so frustrating to have the charging issue.

Don't buy an elcheapo charging lead from EBay. I bought an $8 one. It corroded straight away and I had more issues. I kept it going by using a scourer and small wire brush but just bought a $40 Garmin replacement today.
The Garmin lead is shorter, thicker and more durable looking too.It worked straight away.

The first one was an original Garmin. It lasted about 12 months..
