After a drop to the tiles my faithfull GT-31 lost its LCD. Still logged data fine but couldnt read anything....

I turned to the internet to see how it was done to no avail, couldnt find any pics or info on anyone doing it so took a few during the replacement.

Whilst Locosy are probabdly right, it is better to let them do it. It is possible to do yourself with a lot of patience, a good soldering iron and some experience.

Very finicky work, the ribbon feeding info to the LCD has many tiny soldered joints. You actually manually solder the ribbon cable to the board. Biggest issue is getting a good connecton without too much heat or solder jumping joints.

The screen is held in with 2 solder joints at the bottom and double sided tape at the top.

The unit should turn on without the solder joints but I found the backlight to not work until solder joints at bottom of LCD were put back on.

Once again, if you have time send to Locosy (thumbs up to them for great service as usual), if your really.... really..... really impatient like me well.....
