The Creeps little sister is finished? - a W44 restoration that was started before the 48 build...
A nice tail comparison!
I like the parallel profile between the two wingers , nice clean release and it will smoke to windward, and with the piney tale you will be able to use smaller fins for the shallow water
Hi Keef, the profile actually has the same curve, it is just kicked in 5mm at the front and brought out 5mm at the rear. I am hoping the 1cm width increase will offset the tail sharpening...yes, smaller fins are a bonus too.
.
I like the straighter profile kimba

Geez Tim, you keep a nice lawn mate!
Kings Pride Buffalo if you are interested
Recognise your old mate?
kimba my light wind speed board has a similar profile , i have added a tail cutout since it was made , it allows me to use much smaller fins in shallow water
the board in my avatar is a modified 270 f2 sputnik it has the same profile and as too date holds the spot speed record for primbee at 42.7 knts

So the tail mod in the middle pic was performed on the top board?

yes the cutouts are 300 from the tail and 290 wide i have rounded the corners since that pic , the board is basically a light wind lake board 520 wide and the tail is as thick as the fin box comes , the board hammers to windward with a 7.2 n/prsr and 22cm wide base 47deg weedy
the reason for the thick tail is for water starting in shallow weedy stuff, the problem with shallow weed areas is you sink the tail to to get going , as long as you start with your weight forward the tail will float, well sort of
i have sunk the foot area's to get a closer feel to the water, the back footstrap could have been sunk further forward but not a problem
