Waiting for the low tide to have a go at the Yanakie Channel. Hmmmm, starting to get sightly nervous....

Yanakie weather station:

Waiting for the tide to drop so I can have a go at speed sailing in the Yanakie channel. The Yanakie wind station says 38-51 Knots. That 'smoke' mist on the water is usually a good indicator of close to 50 knots.

Its only 3 hours to low tide and the water is still quite high. I'm not sure if it will go low enough to expose the channel.

Not possible for me. There is 3-4ft crazy washing machine chop out there. Maybe on my small wave board but I don't have a wave sail that small anymore (3m? 2.5m?)

Just came back from mission to sail. No good. Wind eased a bit to 30-40 knots which would have made sail choice a bit easier, but the tide has not gone out so no sandbar to sail next to in the channel.

Also, too choppy and broad near the car park. Oh well, there will be other days. They say we will have huge surf tomorrow.

No sand bar. The light coloured line in the water between the red channel buoys is where it would be if the tide dropped another 30 cm

any chance of storm surge Andrew? Would be great to see a truck load (or 500) of sand knocked off and out of the dunes....

Good chance of that in the next week or so as the tides get higher again. It looks like the wind is setting in for a while.

Can we sneak in a d10 with sand tracks. A few hours would have the point looking pristine im wishing you better luck for the next blow. Hopefully huey and neptune can coordinate. Evil looking chop in that first video.
