At Sanctuary Point on the weekend of Dec 12th & 13th. Sailor's briefing 10:30am Saturday at the boat ramp.

This is probably the best regatta of the year and usually the best attended. The conditions at Sanctuary Point normally cover a wide range of wind strengths, which makes for exciting racing.

The line up for the regatta looks like the strongest for quite a few years, with all the top contenders in good form after the great regatta in Brisbane last weekend. Defending NSW champion James Grunfelder has quickly got to grips with a new board and sail combination and looks like the person to beat. Doug McLean is currently leading the NSW series and will be pushing James all the way.

Nick Nelson is race officer, so the courses will be spot on.

Notice of Race can be downloaded from the website - www.raceboards.net.au
Follow the menu links to the Championship documents page.

See you there!

Hi Bushfire
Where do regatta attendees usually stay?

Hi Regal1,
There is plenty of accommodation in the Sanctuary Point area, including a camping/caravan park at Palm Beach. Just google it. I'm staying in a rented house with a bunch of sailing mates - its about 5 minutes drive from the boat ramp/rigging area.

A very successful weekend of raceboarding was held at Sanctuary Point resulting in James Grunfelder being crowned 2015 NSW Raceboard Champion. Eight out of a possible 10 races were completed over the two days with winds on Saturday proving to very tricky with many gusts and holes and direction changes. Wind strength was maybe up to 15 knots or so and water conditions were quite flat. James set the scene from the first race scoring a victory and following up with the next 3 races. Doug McLean provided the only road bump in James's total domination by taking race 5 in the failing wind.

Sunday was a day of wind - starting off at about 16 knots or so and building to over 30 knots. Quick work by the racecrew enabled 3 exciting, fast and physically demanding races to be rattled off. James continued his top form by showing all how to gybe in choppy 30 knots - he just did not make a mistake! The wind was continuing to build so RO Nick made the smart decision to cancel further racing, fully supported by all of the sailors.

Wow raceboards go so well over the short sharp chop when fully powered up - what fun!

A great turnout of 20 sailors are still probably feeling a bit worked over - I know I am.

A big thank you the Nick and Ron for manning the boats, setting the courses and managing the races.

Well done all, sounds like it was a great regatta.

What, Rhys 2nd? Was there a wavesailing component?

I look forward to sailing these waters one day.

Looks like Lissa easily won the Women's.
