Knowing that Territory And Municipal Services (TAMS) are slow to react in these matters, I took it upon myself to give "the point" a clean-up this morning. For too many easterlies, a large fallen tree has blocked our access to the preferred launch site. I've chainsawed as much of the tree as I could; the remainder was too large for my saw. I also cut the long grass as best as my mower could cope.
I'll request TAMS, through Access Canberra, to remove the pile of timber, and to attend to cleaning up the remaining area.
@ Pete, Ben, Scotty, Chris, Alex, Phantom, FlyingDutchy; Doug, Luong, Brendan et al: Please feel free to put a similar request in to TAMS - "the squeaky wheel gets the oil"
Good one Bristol. You are a top bloke.
As no one really owns the land no really cares about it.
Yes, sadly the Ngarigo/Ngarmal people have moved on and the Ngunnawal tribe seems to no longer exist???

Thanks for the kind words, Mobydisc.
The Point took a hit by a violent windstorm on 14 January; the willow tree in the centre of my picture (above) fell over, again blocking access to the water. Ouch! The trunk is half on land, half in the water. In classic "Yes Minister" fashion, if it's in the water, it's the problem of the National Capital Authority. If it's on the foreshore, it's TAMS' problem. Ah, the wheels of bureaucracy . . .
In the meantime, we (the Canberra sailboarding collective) are planning a working bee to give the rest of the Point area a spruce-up, on 08 February, starting 1800. This post is to publicize the bee. Pete (Shea) will post on Facebook. Scotty will pass notice on via Wetspot.
If you can join us, that'd be great. Bring gardening gloves and other tools of use (maybe rake, saw, wheelbarrow and/or the like). And, a few beers. We might even get a few pizzas, or afterwards adjourn to the Yarralumla Pide shop.
Of course, if there's sailable wind, the "bee" above becomes Plan B, for another day.

And thus, it came to pass! We tamed, we sawed, we conquered. What a transformation. Compare our launch spot with the originally-posted photo.
Present were Brendan, Ollie, Scotty, Pete, James, Michael, Paul (x2), Luong and self. As well as "really big guy" and "guy with blue Subaru". Sorry about the last two names.
