Only sailed from that spot twice in south winds Wayne but it seems SW, SSW and S so far. Locals like Mick, Johnny etc will know better. Its a sweet spot, come up!!
It's funny Wayne....I've sailed Illawarra/Primbee and been scared cause of the shallowness but up in Tuggerah/Budgewoi it's almost the same and yet nowhere near as intimidating for some weird reason!

Budgiewoi Lake is proving to be a hot location. Doesnt really matter what direction the wind is, just launch spot will be different.
Peel St (Aquatic Club) and 7th Ave, Toukley is where you would take off from in a ENE round to West. Buff Pt Ave, Buff Pt is where you would take off from in a SW to SSE and Brandon Lane, Budgewoi in a SSE to E. All bases covered. How good is that on one Lake! Worst wind would Be a Northerly, which would only offer short runs of flat (500m other directions up to 2000m)
Lake is pretty high at the moment, so it does get alot flatter than the footage shown.
Wish we had the wind of Primbee!!!

Will I die using a 30 cm JP weedy there, or do I need something a little less draft?

You can use regular weedy's, but you just need to watch the depth east of the Fisho's pole. Anywhere west of that is fine, just need to watch out for the thick weed clumps.
In a NE/r you can hang on the edge of the weed bank and on your port tack is your fastest and flattest. The weed wraps round at the end of the run offering a nice bear off and flat as for your gybe. That run and direction is fine for regular weedy. Any other direction would be dangerous, as you are being pushed into the shallows and you tend to push the limits as it becomes so flat and also shallow.
If I were you, I'd invest in a 19 delta which would be the equivalent to your Jp 31. I have 2 of these at the moment which Mark sent down.
