I can't imagine Canton ever becoming the big tourist hub they'd hope. The Entrance, with it's white sand and nearby beaches, will always be the big drawcard for many visitors. Canton seems desitined to remain the ideal location for aging folks walking their dogs and windsurfers.
As for the "parks", well, it was starting to look like Sunnyvale...
you'se are all stooges. Somewon should thong ya's!
PS- why did the narrator do the commentary in a toilet cubicle?

It's another example of the under reported incidence of lack of affordable housing and homelessness generally. It's something that is not easily fixed and has many complex interrelated challenges. Like the link between homelessness and mental health.
The council should have a more proactive response than a throw hands in the air and say it has nothing to do with them, it's "private matter". One would think it's actually a public matter when a whole bunch of your most vulnerable citizens are struggling to provide the bare necessities of life are about to be living on the streets!?!?

I didn't realise Bourbon was a bare necessity!
If you want to make money out of it you could look at www.ingeniacommunities.com.au/ asx code INA. INA bought Ettalong Beach Holiday Village, the Grange Village at Morriset, Settlers Ridge at Maitland and a number of other resident parks to develop sites and sell nice, relatively cheap manufactured homes to permanent residents. To me the Canton park looks ripe for redevelopment.
Philswr is right; the area is reminiscent of Sunnyvale, just older & shabbier. The council doesn't have to rezone but if they don't the developers won't buy and improve the area's amenity. It could be a great windsurfer park. Perhaps Guy Cribb would buy a cabin.
Hopefully if the Wyong Council sees Canton Beach as a tourist hub they will look at the water quality and consider dredging out the entrance so a bit of seawater gets in and out of those big lakes.
I used to think Canton Beach was the pits, however now I really like it and wouldn't mind living there. Its either there or Beachport SA as two places I'd like to live.
hey man, we dont want it dredged, were happy the way it is, we also dont mind poor people, drinking, smoking, crap teeth, we like those people,,,, most of us thought you were the pits when we meet you.................................still do!! whenever man

Fair call, thoughts don't change much for people who really know me either. Anyway its great to live in a place one feels at home in. Hopefully Toukley and surrounds doesn't change too much in the future.
^^^^I'm sorry karl, bit too harsh..............such is my seabreeze demeanor,,,,,,,, nobody thinks your the pits, your a nice guy, cool sailor, good luck with it all.
