This season Windsuring NSW has teamed up with the GRSC with the introduction of a "FOIL" division for WINDFOIL & WINGFOIL COURSE RACING & SLALOM RACING, with Fins invited to the Slalom events.
GRSC is an ideal location because they offer social club members ($2.20) access to a dedicated carpark and sailing members will have access to an exclusive area. No more 3 hour time limts!
GRSC FOIL Series
GRSC and Windsurfing NSW are partnering for the 2023/24 season to offer regular club races off the beach at Doll's Point, Botany Bay.
The plan is to offer a series of up/down wind course races and reaching or downwind slalom races accessible for all level of riders over the season with racing mostly on Sunday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm.
Racing is the best way to hon your skills while clubs offer a great venue for meeting like-minded individuals while enjoying some friendly competition and rivalry.
The Georges River Sailing Club (GRSC) offers some great facilities including;
club house,
parking,
toilets/showers,
grassed rigging area,
hoses,
a great venue for a refreshing drink after sailing with mates to brag about the day!
For the serious sailors:
We will offer some of the best course racing venues in Sydney to challenge your upwind/downwind technique in relatively flat water to 1m swell depending on the wind/tide/conditions on the day.
For the friendly novices:
We will have an easier / less technical option for novice racers to sail, with less upwind angles and a more fun style of racing.
For those seeking speed:
On slalom days we will have a range of "Figure 8" and "Downwind M" courses on offer. These will have competitive deep water open start line for PWA style racers, with a convenient sandy beach area to wait if you prefer standing starts. Slalom races will also be available for "Fin" racers too.
Members Only:
Join GRSC for the day to have a go, or for the season at georgesriversailingclub.com.au to sign up as a racing member to participate.
If you or a family member or friend canvolunteerto help with scoring, photos, or driving a boat/jet ski please let us know!

Thank-you to Berowne for organising an excellent day's sailing, to Ian for doing the starts and water cover and to GRSC for hosting us! Tough conditions but really enjoyed it!! Great turn-out and everyone pushing hard. Ian, I hope your sunburn isn't too bad.
Looking forward to the next one.
Yes thanks Berowne for a top arvo ! Slalom racing is go go go. Very exciting. Further to Dave Howes list of thanks I'd like to add Evie for scoring at the finishing line. Great to meet / catch up with you guys cheers.

That was very slack of me; yes, big thanks to Evie!!!!
The Sunday Funday was a great day on the water, thanks to everyone who came out for the day, Ian for driving the start boat and Yvie for taking notes on the finish line. Also of course thanks to GRSC for hosting.
Towra point made for an easy starting point, good exposure to the N/E breeze which was a deceptively light 8-15kt with occasional gusts. A short run to the start, then blast across the river mouth to gybe in some rough swell, chop and backwash in the outgoing tide, which really tested ride height control. From here we blasted off to the second gybe mark which was set just off a pod of 8 dolphins further south on the Towra side. A final blast across to the club with the finish right in front of the club and beach crowds made for a great sunday spectacle.
A few changes to the course next time will mkae the downwind M course even better, but we are thinking of trying an even easier figure 8 course next time... date tbc.

What's with the cloaking device being used on some of those powerboats?
Hope the jetskis don't develop this technology!
