Hi All,
As you may (or may not) have heard on the grape vine, Stormriders Windsurfing Club has been in discussion with Balmoral Sailing Club about the possibility of club racing for Formula Windsurfers next season (2015-2016) and have submitted a formal proposal which is currently being reviewed by BSC. (Note that the submission to BSC also proposed that if initial Formula Windsurfing proved successful that the classes be expanded to include Raceboard, One Design and Techno.) This would give Stormriders venues for club racing in both the South (Georges River Skiff Club) and North of Sydney.
Meanwhile BSC has kindly agreed to holding a test event (or two) to round out the current season. Details as follows:
Club racing at Balmoral Sailing Club for Formula Windsurfers this Saturday (14th of March).
Competitors would be participating as Visitors to Balmoral SC. This entails paying the $10 visitor fee, signing the Visitors' Book and signing on for the race.
Briefing is at 12:45pm with first start at 2:00pm.
Courses are set primarily in Hunters Bay.
So if you're a Formula Windsurfer on the North Shore, or just keen for a race, come on down.
And obviously racing would depend on favourable weather conditions, so check the forecast! (Anything southerly would be no good.)
One last note: parking is quite expensive near the Club and this is something that is being worked through for next season so you may want to consider dropping off gear and parking on the hill.
The following thread has some photos and tracks of a session we had in Hunters Bay a few weeks ago, which is essentially where the course would be: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/New-South-Wales/Balmoral-revisited/

I'm there with bells on! Thanks Dave, looking forwrd to it. After the great success of the GPS/Freerace last wk end and this now, what a great way to round off the season. Happy days
Thanks Dave. Your new avatar is looking dangerous with a 2016 Reflex Adam!!
Yeah cheers Dean. That one thanks to Rob Plim, taken at the Nats on Lake Macquarie in Feb.
What was it that someone(a good sailor) once said to me,..."Windsurfing is 70% looks & 30% sailing"? Something along those lines anyways!
Hi All,
Didn't quite get there with the wind yesterday, so we'll try again next Saturday (21st of March).
Same time, same place and hopefully with a north-easterly arriving before 4pm.

Hi All,
Last Saturday (21st) was a great day of Formula racing at Balmoral with a 15kt ESE and four guys out there. After briefing at Balmoral SC, we drove to Clontarf to rig and launch which was perfect! While the conditions were a little tricky and the course a bit long (my bad), everyone enjoyed the sailing.
Photos below of the 15kt ESE and Tom rigging.
