Gday everyone,

After watching the forecasts again all week, we have settled on Sunday 25th October to run the rescheduled round 1 event. The forecast looks like a perfect 15-20 knot seabreeze building throughout the afternoon.

We realise that unfortunately this date clashes with both the Gerroa wave event and the Learn to Windsurf day at Balmoral. Those keen to do the beginners event at Balmoral in the morning should be able to do it in the morning and still have time to get down to Kyeemagh in time for the GPS event.

All the details are the same as last time:

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/New-South-Wales/GPS-Freerace-Day-1-Botany-Bay-This-weekend/

Look forward to seeing everyone Sunday at the top carpark, Kyeemagh - registration from 11am.

Cheers
James, Byron and Murray

Thanks for the photos James, I was using a Loft Racing Blade 9.6m which is the biggest slalom sail Loft make. I also use this sail for high wind on my formula board as well. My Board was Patrick Slalom 128 81cm wide, there is a wider Patrik Slalom 135 which is 85cm wide which would have been a better choice. PWA Slalom class rules maximum is 85cm wide. And I was using 47cm Z fin.

The photos look good but I actually didnt break 20 knots that day. gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2015-10-17&team=49

I think the formula boards had a slight edge however these events are really just for Slalom, Free race and Free ride style boards. This was clarified by the organizer last weekend. Patrik have release a new Free Race board, message me and I will bring it down.

Thanks for the info Justin, hopefully this Sunday the 9.6 can stay in the van!

We want to say another thanks to the generous series sponsors. Without their assistance we couldn't run these events - please support them!
- Remi from The Windsurfing Shed + Exocet and Mauisails - contributing towards costs of the t-shirts and supplying prizes for winners
- Boab Boat Hire providing us with discounts on boat hire for the Sanctuary Point GPS and Slalom State Championships event
- Andrew from Wicked Promotional Products providing the series t-shirts at heavily discounted prices

Looking forward to Sunday its a great place to sail in a NE breeze as predicted for Sunday.
Justin thanks for info mate, we only stipulated a board size restriction of 85cm for slalom as per current racing rules.
We want every body with what ever equipment they have to try it and have fun.
If a formula board was to be faster than a slalom its because we have sailed in to light a breeze and we wont allow this to happen.
We have guidelines as a committee we follow. Hence why we did not contemplate racing last weekend.
Really Looking forward to seeing new faces can't wait.

Looking great for tomorrow.

Dont forget to charge your GPS, and make sure you have your memory card in!

Entry is $30 for the day, or $100 for the whole 4 event series including a free shirt. Shirts are also available for $25 each, and we'll have them there tomorrow.

even if you don't want to join in the event, it'd be great to see stacks of windsurfers on the water a good time.

for those who haven't been there before, the car park is opposite 105 General Holmes Drive, Kyeemagh.

see you from 11am onwards.

James

Thanks James
Please note that the top 3 place getters in the series are unable to contest the handicap devision top 3 positions in the series, this will make sure the handy cap is just that as fair as possible.

Kyeemagh NSW GPS round one race.
3 1/2 hr races in sunshine.
Race 1 was light and I was underdone on the 7.7 so the people with their 8.4 etc. really were flying.
Race 2 was unreal myself and Remi sticking together pushing each other we were flying down the strip 2 m apart over 31 knots it was unreal and that’s what GPS racing is all about to me even if he was a bit quicker.
Race 3 same again but most people were starting to feel it, I know I did the last 10 min my legs were hurting and I am fit.
So unreal to see new faces I enjoyed meeting people and for everyone to experience sailing together and what it’s all about FUN SAILING TOGETHER pushing each other.
Also hats off to Tibor he was on a 9m ALL DAY You are a bloody legend mate putting many a younger sailors to shame.
Thanks James for working tonight doing the results and Remi "the windsurfing shed " for the shirts.
Need to drink beer now.

Great to see everyone today. Perfect conditions at Kyeemagh.

I have everyone's tracks except for Rick Murray - please see below preliminary results for the Handicap Division. Freerace division takes a bit longer to calculate but should have it done by tomorrow night.

Brett and Grae aren't yet in a GPS team, so they don't have a handicap. But well done especially to Grae (12 years old I think) who held a 6.2 in those gusts and got a peak of 22.7 knots.

My wife also took 600 photos, so we will work through those then post up online soon.

Cheers

The Handicap results posted last night are confirmed, as Rick unfortunately had GPS issues so didnt record a track. Congratulations to John Michelakis (aka Slalomfreak) for winning the handicap division!

The 30 minute freerace results are below - scores are your average speed over the half hour, as calculated by the KA72 FreeraceMaster software. Congratulations to Remi for picking up the win, even with a dodgy shoulder. I will put together the replay videos later in the week.

GOOD work James. MILSY, what a fantastic result. Tibor finding a way to excel, carrying 9 metres the whole day. Remi also snatching it from Byron with the bigger sail, how close can it get. A great day.

Good one Remi.
Must have been that 8.4
With the wind playing its part a top day for all of us.
The simplicity of GPS racing is pure joy and if it was run under PWA slalom rules with boat starts etc. the final table would probably have been the same.

You're a genius James, even made me look average.
But seriously, we better have a collection to buy Nick a haircut & shave, he would have beaten me but for the weight of it all. And where does all the wildlife go when he falls in?
